And this is how we left Canada....did I mention we were harassed at entry by the border patrol, had to go without firewood for the first night because the station closed at 2 pm (even though we got there at 3), the next day had to pay 6$ for 6 pieces of wood and 3.99 for a 5 pound bag of ice for our coolers (mind you, you can buy an 8 lb bag of ice at holiday in mn for $1.49), our credit cards didn't work at the most ghetto gas station and our one dinner out for pizza cost us 50$ and it was like eating at Pizza Hut. Okay, so besides that we made the best of it. But we did decide to go back over the border a few days earlier than expected and tented on the Gunflint trail. |
Can't beat smore time. I have figured out though, that the kids would prefer to eat raw marshmallows with a piece of cold hershey bar vs the real thing. But me, nah, I should be at smore anonymous. |
Our last piece of scenery before leaving Canada. |
Even stopped for kite flying lesson. Ethan was totally engrossed in it until Scott smacked him in the face with kite. Ah, Scott was a little on the rusty side. |
Practicing her cheerleading moves. |
Palisade Head, just an hour or so north of Duluth. After this, one last pitstop at Betty's Pies and we found ourselves pulling onto Wood Road. The weather was absolutely perfect and my company was pretty good too. But I would probably have to say that I think northern Mn has a lot more scenic beauty to offer than the few stops in Canada we made. Might have to check out eastern or western canada next time. |
