Visit with Great Grandpa Peavey

Ethan had the chance to meet his Great Grandpa Peavey for the first time on Sunday. We drove down to his summer home in Ladysmith, WI for a cookout and a quick visit. Andrew, his girlfriend Sky and daughter Kyra, met us there as well. Andrew took us for a buzz around the lake in the pontoon and later some went for a dip in the lake.

We met up with the Kroenings at the Como Zoo for some cheap entertainment and later packed Ethan up with Grandma Linda for the evening and headed to our last Twins game at the dome. However, after climbing into the nosebleeds, overheating, and attempting to eat a chicago dog with no napkins we were ready to exit the beloved dome after the 7th due to a crushing kill the Twins took. Afterwards, we headed out for a few drinks (aqua for the ladies) and then got to sleep in at the hotel. Later my mom tells me Ethan slept in until 930 that morning as well. What a little stinker! As usual, we had a great time with the Kroenings and wished we lived just a little bit closer.

Our annual friends weekend brought us once again to the Maio family cabin in Wautoma, Wi. Last time we ventured to the lake there was 8 of us, this year there was 11 and next year there will be 14! It was fun hanging out with the Maio's, Kroening's and Bansemar's. But oh how times have changed...we used to stay up to the wee hours of the night by the campfire, sunbathe all day long, spend a couple hours fishing...this year, it was more like nap time, diaper changes, taking the kids swimming and watching Miles sneak in the snack bag over and over again for entertainment. But none the less we had a great time! Thanks to the Maio's for hosting us!

After a funfilled weekend of swimming, boat rides, and fireworks, our 4th of July festivities came to a screeching halt when Saturday night 3 sparklers literally blew up in Scott's hand. (yes, I said sparklers...the ones all the kids get to hold) After a trip to the ER, a diagnosis of 2nd degree burn to his entire inside of his left hand, and a night of unbelievable pain, Scott is now on the road to recovery. Only now he has to put up with the nickname MJ (for the sweet white glove bandage he will get to wear for the next 1-2 months). Also, a huge thank you to my family for watching Ethan for an extra few days while Scott and I cut our vacation short for doctor's appointments and well needed rest.

Ian shared the news that he is going to be the big brother now. Andy and Mary are expecting there 3rd child in Feb/March. In 6 short years, my parents are now going to have 5 grandchildren!

Welcome baby Lainey

Lainey Jane Dellinger was born on July 3rd to Scott's sister Mary and her husband Jason. She weighed 8 lbs 11.5 oz and was 19.5 inches long. She has LOTS of dark hair and her and mom are doing well. She came pretty quickly ( a total of 4 hours from the first contraction is what I'm told); so quickly Mary's midwife didn't make it and daddy Jason had to deliver the baby himself right in the comfort of their own home. Impressive to say the least!! We can't wait to meet Lainey in person. Too bad they live so far away.

Seth, Jenni, Abby and Ashley Ryan came to visit us this weekend. Ethan was having a blast flirting with his girlfriends. Even though the AD (aka, me as the activity director) failed at all activies planned, we managed to have fun with a few laughs (and a few time outs). After driving to Bayfield on Saturday for a day of berry picking only to find out the orchard "was sold out of pick your own berries" we decided to head for the candy store instead and the park. Saturday night the kiddos hit the hay early and the adults proceeded with game night and Seth, Scott and Jenni proceeded to clean out our booze cabinet. The next morning it looked like we had a frat party in our kitchen. With Ashley and Abby being early rising (not much to the liking of there parents), 545 came pretty early and I on the other got to sleep in as Ethan slept in till 830! I must have had the lucky card today. After a few mid morning naps, we decided to venture out for another activity (sad to say, planned by me) to Solon Springs for Voyager Daze. Yeah, let me tell you this is no Kolacky Days folks. We got there and just missed the parade and there were no food stands, games, music, nothing. So we ended up at the park again and then walked down the the big Liebling brothers Circus (about a mile of walking). Circus...sounds like a great activity for 3 little kids right...not so much. We got there and it was a raggedy old circus tent with one old, decrepit, stinky, hairy elephant and 5 sweaty ponies. Abby managed to talk her parents into riding the elephant (for 5$ of course) and after 2 laps in an enclosed pen we got to witness the elephant take a giant wiz and number 2 about 3 feet away from us. I hope the wiz didn't splash up on us. That was the end of the circus. We bolted out of there as fast as a pregnant woman could waddle. So another bum trip and then the Ryan's headed back to Farmington (thankfully, I'm sure, to be returning to civilization).
