one fish, two fish

Breakfast with a view at G&G Harms' cabin on Sand Lake. Spent the weekend before the 4th fishing and swimming. G&G Bachman came for a night and spent a lot of time on the boat! Perfect weather for once!!
Early morning fisherman
First dip of the season
Man made bridge
Is this the new lobsterita?
Waiting for the big one...

It's a whopper!
Note to those fishing with young children....the live well provides hours of entertainment
nothing like having a little brewski with grandma
Whoa gramps, that's a keeper!
"Yes. I perfectly content if I have snacks to eat"

Why travel?

Ethan, Addison and I got to enjoy a weekend alone as Scott and his buddies from college had a "man weekend" in Milwaukee. (ps thanks sarah for putting up with their shenanigans!) We headed to Duluth's lakewalk via wagon and mommy muscles and then took a break (or at least I did) in the canal. I managed not to get pooped on by seagulls as Ethan and Addison chased them around like wild monkeys.

Another Redbird is leaving the nest

My cousin Ben is flying the MLHS Redbird coop and heading to Minnesota State Moorhead. We got to celebrate with him last weekend with lots of good food and family. Ethan and Addison even attended their first sweltering hot graduation ceremony. Although a took a while to convince Ethan we were having a party for something else besides a "birthday". Congrats Ben! Enjoy college life. Happy Empty Nest Liz and Rich!!!

Funny Book

Brown Bear, Brown Bear

Ethan is into reading to his little sister. Well actually his reading consists of only Brown Bear Brown Bear as he has it memorized. I can't wait for the day when he expands his library!

A chilly Memorial Weekend

We opted out of tenting in the thunderstorms this year so my parents came for a visit on Saturday night and we spent Sunday at Park Point in Duluth and Jay Cooke State Park. Ethan thought it was 90 degrees outside and decided to take a little dip in Lake Superior....brrrrrr. After our picnic and some time on the playground, we headed to the trails at Jay Cooke State Park, or should I say the mud pit. We came out of the woods covered in Mud and a few ticks but tis the season for that. Afterwards, we headed to the Ranch (G&G Thompson's cabin in Willow River for a delicious  pork chop dinner. We then drove home in guess what, thunderstorms again. The kids were wiped out and didn't wake until 730 and 830! (which is a record in our house)

Dolls

Addison is all girl lately. Her new found love is playing with "baby". However, one must watch where they step around here as "baby" has lots of nap areas...everywhere.
